TRIP DESCRIPTION:           

Take a full day to have one of the finest excursions from Marrakech through the High Atlas Mountains and straight to the Rocky Desert. This trip offers the tour to the deep Morocco beyond the hustle of the city. You will pass by the rich landscapes of High Atlas Mountains, Deep River Valleys, traditional villages, gorges and a vast desert full of surprises where the climate changes and varies as well as the Flora and Fauna. During this full day trip you will visit Ouarzazate, nicknamed the gateway of the desert, located in a bare plateau in south of the High Atlas Mountains. The town is well known for its Kasbahs and an area which is a noted film-making location where various Hollywood movies were filmed. Ouarzazate is an important holiday destination in Morocco, as a base for excursions across the Draa Valley and into the desert. The fortified village of Ait Benhaddou, west of the city, is a UNESCO World heritage site that you will also be visiting.

ITINERARY:                          

An experienced driver will meet you at your accommodation in Marrakech to take the road to the South of Morocco for a full day trip to the gateway of the Sahara – Ouarzazate.

Moving away from Marrakech, the vegetation, the reliefs and the colors change at each turn. Then the road rises above the plains winding the mountains of the High Atlas.

Approaching the pass of Tizi N’Tichka, the highest point of the trip is at 2260 meters altitude, you will drive into a thick mist before entering a cold region on the High Mountains of the Atlas. The point of view is extraordinary but make sure you are well dressed for the cold temperature on this altitude on road.

The ride continues towards the Tizi N’Aït Imquer pass, from where you can admire an exceptional panorama of the Djbel Tistouit. On road you will have the chance to stop to enjoy the landscapes and take photos as well as a visit a local cooperative.

Arriving to Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, you will witness one of a typical ancient Berber village of the South. It is a historical site that is marked as a UNESCO world heritage and it is a magnificent preserved site of the Moroccan Kingdom that exposes the architecture and culture of Berbers in the Southern Morocco. This Kasbah attracts tourists from the entire world as well as film-makers that are inspired by the enchanting sceneries of the region.

After the scenic views and a tour in the Kasbah, you will get to Ouarzazate or the Hollywood star of Morocco. The town is full of things to see, from the traditional architecture, Berber culture and the film-making studios that attract the visitors and moviemakers internationally as many famous Hollywood movies and series were filmed in this town.
