TRIP DESCRIPTION:

A 4-day tour in the Moroccan desert allows you to discover the secrets of the Sahara. Enjoy the charm of Moroccan Sahara, discover the Kasbahs and experience riding the camel through the golden sand dunes of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga including a once in a lifetime night in the desert camp where you will enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner under the stars. Stroll through the great canyons and gorges of Dades and Toudra. Drive through the sceneries of the arid desert to reach Draa Valley and discover the unique architecture of the fortified Kasbahs.

ITINERARY:                          

DAY 1: MARRAKECH – TIZI N’TICHKA – TELOUATE – AIT BEN HADDOU – OUARZAZATE – SKOURA – DADES VALLEY AND TOUDRA GORGE

Your driver will pick you up at your hotel / riad from Marrakech and depart for Ouarzazate by crossing the High Atlas by the neck of Tizi n’Tichka, a mountain pass in Morocco, linking the south-east of Marrakech to the city of Ouarzazate through the High Atlas Mountains.

A road leads to Telouet and its magnificent Kasbah, once a stronghold of the powerful El Glaoui family, lords of the High Atlas and Pacha of Marrakech.

Stop at the Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou for a short visit in this fortified village. You will witness one of a typical ancient Berber village of the South. A historical site that is marked as a UNESCO world heritage and it is a magnificent preserved site of the Moroccan Kingdom that exposes the architecture and culture of Berbers in the Southern Morocco.

On the road to Ouarzazate, head over to the palm groves of Skoura. Visit Atlas film studios where many feature films have been shot. Pass through the Kasbah of Taourirt, then continue to the Valley of the Roses and the Valley of the Dades.

Spend the night in the middle of the Dades Gorge. Dinner and accommodation in the hotel.

DAY 2: TOUDRA GORGE – TINEJDAD – ERFOUD – MERZOUGA

In the morning, after breakfast at the hotel, depart for a walk in the palm grove of the Todra Valley. Take the road to Erfoud via Tinejdad and several Berber villages for a stop at the Marble Fossils in Erfoud.

Continue driving to reach the impressive dunes of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga.

You will leave the vehicle to join the camel caravan trip to the sunset in the dunes. You will spend the night under the tents of the nomads in the Sahara to enjoy the desert silence with a sky full of stars.

Traditional Moroccan dinner will be served and overnight in the bivouac with traditional music from the nomads of the area for your entertainment.

DAY 3: MERZOUGA – RISSANI – ALNIF – TAZARINE – N’KOB – ZAGORA

Wake up early to enjoy the sunrise over the dunes of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga, which is one of the best moments of this tour.

Ride a camel back to the camp in Merzouga, followed by a filling breakfast.

Our first stop will be at Rissani, the Alaouite dynasty and the capital of the ancient Sultan Alaouite. Continue to Alnif and Tazarine, where we will stop for lunch. (at your own expense)

Drive through the desert landscapes and the huge palm grove of Draa Valley to reach Zagora where we will spend the night in a local Kasbah. Dinner and accommodation in the hotel.

DAY 4: ZAGORA – AGDEZ – OUARZAZATE – HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAIN – MARRAKECH

Depart the palm groves of Tafilalet, passing through the city of Rissani.

In the afternoon, pass through the route of Tazarine, N’kob and Tansihkt, where you take the track that crosses the Valley of Draa and its charming palm trees.

Continue to Zagora along the route. Continue to Ouarzazate through the Berber villages of Agdez and the Anti-Atlas. Drive back to Marrakech, crossing again the pass of Tizi N’Tichka .
