TRIP DESCRIPTION:

Discover the Moroccan Sahara on a 3-day Private Desert Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga. Spend the night in a Bedouin camp in the Erg Chebbi Dunes and explore the spectacular landscapes of the Dades Valley and Toudra Gorges. Make your way from Marrakech to Ouarzazate, the Skoura Oasis, the great canyons of Dades and the gorges of Toudra, ride camels to reach the desert camp and enjoy a traditional dinner in the desert camp while watching the stars. Enjoy the sunset and the sunrise over the great sand dunes and discover the fortified world heritage Kasbahs of Ouarzazate.

ITINERARY:                          

DAY 1: MARRAKECH – TIZI N’TICHKA – AIT BEN HADDOU – OUARZAZATE – SKOURA – DADES VALLEY AND TOUDRA GORGE

Start the journey from Marrakech to Ouarzazate in the morning crossing the High Atlas by the neck of Tizi n’Tichka, a mountain pass in Morocco, linking the south-east of Marrakech to the city of Ouarzazate through the High Atlas Mountains.

Stop at the Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou for a short visit in this fortified village. You will witness one of a typical ancient Berber village of the South. A historical site that is marked as a UNESCO world heritage and it is a magnificent preserved site of the Moroccan Kingdom that exposes the architecture and culture of Berbers in the Southern Morocco.

Head over to the palm groves of Skoura to visit the Kasbah Ameridile, which has been the location for the filming of many films and TV programs.

Continue our trip to the Toudra Gorges, through the Valley of the Roses, the Kelaa Mgouna Village and the Dades Valley.

Spend the night in the middle of the Dades Gorge. Dinner and accommodation in the hotel.

DAY 2: TOUDRA GORGE – TINEJDAD – ERFOUD – MERZOUGA

In the morning, after breakfast at the hotel, depart for a walk in the palm grove of the Todra Valley. Take the road to Erfoud via Tinejdad and several Berber villages for a stop at the Marble Fossils in Erfoud.

Continue driving to reach the impressive dunes of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga.

You will leave the vehicle to join the camel caravan trip to the sunset in the dunes. You will spend the night under the tents of the nomads in the Sahara to enjoy the desert silence with a sky full of stars.

Traditional Moroccan dinner will be served and overnight in the bivouac with traditional music from the nomads of the area for your entertainment.

DAY 3: MERZOUGA – RISSANI – NQOB – TAMNOUGALTE – OUARZAZATE – MARRAKECH

Wake up early to enjoy the sunrise over the dunes of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga, which is one of the best moments of this tour.

Ride a camel back to the camp in Merzouga, followed by a filling breakfast.

Start a new explorative journey towards Draa Valley and the beautiful desert landscapes of Anti-Atlas Mountains.

Our first stop will be at Rissani to visit the oldest market in the South East. Then continue to Tazarine and the Draa Valley, where we will visit the oldest merinides Kasbah Tamnougalte.

Continue to reach Ouarzazate, where we will have free time for lunch.

Drive back to Marrakech, crossing again the pass of Tizi N’Tichka and the Berber villages between Ouarzazate and Marrakech.
